Our purpose

Helping people make informed decisions.

At Richardson & Lyons, we believe legal advocacy is about more than just the technical expertise. It’s about listening carefully, understanding what’s at stake, and providing clear, honest advice so people can make informed decisions about their situation.

When you choose Richardson & Lyons, you’re choosing a team that takes the responsibility of representation seriously. Fairness, integrity, and careful preparation guide how we work, so you can move forward with clarity and confidence.

Vision & mission

We believe good legal practice is defined by clarity, responsibility, and access to sound advice. Our work is guided by the view that people should be able to understand their options, make informed decisions, and receive careful representation regardless of whether their matter fits a high-volume or high-fee model. That belief shapes how we practise across personal injury and employment law, and underpins our commitment to transparent advice, fair fees, and representation that is measured, prepared, and principled.

Our vision

To provide a legal practice built on clarity, responsibility, and access. A place where people understand their options, feel respected throughout the process, and receive considered representation, without being treated like a number. We measure success by the quality of our work and the trust we build, not by volume or headlines.

Our values

Respect for people
Put people first. We understand behind every legal issue is a person. That is why we listen carefully, speak plainly, and act with empathy and professionalism so you always feel seen, heard, and informed.

Responsibility in representation
Do the work properly. We don’t take shortcuts. We prepare thoroughly, exercise sound judgment, and stand accountable for every step we take on your behalf.

Clarity over complexity
Make decisions easier. We explain the law and your options in plain language so you can choose your next step with confidence.

Fairness and transparency in fees
Be upfront and stay that way. We explain your legal costs from the start and revisit them as your matter evolves. There are no surprises and no pressure.

Independence and integrity
Act only in your interests. We’re free from volume pressures or conflicted incentives, and we’ll tell you what you need to hear, not just what’s easiest to say.

Access in practice
Open the door to advice and advocacy. Through Open Door Project, we provided practical, fairly priced employment law advice for people who might otherwise face significant barriers to quality representation.

Emma has stayed true to these principles throughout her career, ensuring every client receives not only expert legal representation, but the support and guidance needed to rebuild their life with confidence.

Emma understands personal injury claims are rarely just about compensation; they’re about helping clients access treatment and support, so they can move forward with dignity and confidence.

Client Approach
Emma combines empathy with strategy to deliver the best outcomes for her clients. Known for making complex legal matters clear and relatable, she gives clients confidence at every stage.
